Poop and the Princeton Packet

We made the Princeton Packet! Joe Daddy bought up about 10 copies Tuesday morning.

In other news, we're having our first struggle with constipation. Joe deals with it quite admirably, but he went from having about eight poops a day to about one poop a day. We called our pediatrician who said that babies have varying poop schedules and also formula fed babies (especially babies fed formula high in iron) tend to get constipated. To help things along, I put a teaspoon of Karo Corn Syrup in his bottle about once a day and it seems to keep him from getting completely stopped up. Joe couldn't be happier when he gets his "special bottle".

We have our second pediatrician's appointment tomorrow for a growth check and I have an OB appointment in about a week for a shrink check. I lost 30lbs in 10 days! I can't believe it has come off so fast, but I am quite happy about that. :) Here's Joe relaxing during mealtime. Hopefully his umbilical cord stump will fall off soon so that we can give him a real bath!

***warning, I'm about to give unsolicited advice, do with it what you will***
I had a friend with a baby who had similar constipation woes. Her doctor recommended giving prune juice, pear juice or apple juice, one to two ounces a day. He had/has a chronic problem, so you might not need to do anything so drastic, but your story reminded me of it so I thought I'd pass it along so you can ask your doc about it if you want. Or not if Karo is working fine. :) *** end of unsolicited advice***

  2. I heard about the juice thing too, so I'm glad to hear it also from a trusted friend. :) I'm going to ask at the doctor Friday what he suggests, because I REALLY don't want to switch formulas. He doesn't have gas, spit up, fussiness... and I want to keep it that way! If his only issue is constipation, we can deal with that.

Speaking of things unsolicited, I just want you to know that Nick and I had to use part of the gift you bought on our registry yesterday. There's a baby thermometer in the health set and we had to use it... you know where. So, thanks! ;)
